Aboutus
Since 1995, My Education Resources & Solutions, LLC (MyERS), formerly known as Growing Up With Us, has provided continuing education to thousands of nurses across the country. Our founder, Mary Myers Dunlap, BSN, MAEd, launched Growing Up With Us... A Newsletter For Those Who Care for Children in early 1995 to address the need for age-specific training for pediatric staff at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
As a clinical educator, Ms. Dunlap recognized a gap in population-specific education. During chart reviews, staff nurses consistently identified "knowledge of drugs and treatments" as a learning need for pediatric patients of all ages. Ms. Dunlap saw an opportunity to tailor education to each patient's needs. For example, when reviewing the chart of a six-month-old infant above the 95th percentile for weight who was given sweet tea and soda in her bottle and fed primarily mashed potatoes and gravy, Ms. Dunlap suggested teaching the parents about proper infant nutrition rather than simply reviewing drugs and treatments. The staff's response - "You'll have to teach us before we can teach parents" - revealed the need for foundational pediatric education.
Drawing from decades of experience as a nursing instructor, Ms. Dunlap developed the Growing Up With Us program to equip her pediatric staff with the knowledge necessary to provide age-specific care. After requests from nurse educators at other facilities, she began offering subscriptions to healthcare providers across North Carolina.
Today, in addition to Growing Up With Us, MyERS provides four other population-specific education programs: Grown Up, Growing Families, Growing Numbers, and Personal Growth. These resources span the patient lifespan and are used by healthcare professionals across the United States. Our team of experienced nurse educators and creative instructional designers leverage innovative technologies and evidence-based techniques to deliver dynamic learning experiences to our clients.
