Continuing education that started with what nurses needed

MyERS (My Education Resources and Solutions, LLC), formerly Growing Up With Us, has provided continuing education to nursing staff since 1995. It began with one newsletter and a simple question: what do our nurses need to know?

Our story

In 1989, founder Mary Myers Dunlap was hired at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina as a nurse educator. There, she created Growing Up With Us, a newsletter for her nursing students.

Chart reviews showed that staff wanted to know more about the drugs and treatments their pediatric patients received. When one review pointed to an infant's poor diet, the natural next step seemed to be teaching parents about nutrition. The staff's answer shaped everything that followed: they needed the foundational knowledge first.

Word spread. Nurse educators at other facilities asked for the newsletter, and in 1995 Mary started her own business, Growing Up With Us, Inc., offering her continuing education to nurse educators across the country. More than 30 years later, that business is MyERS.

Who creates MyERS
