Course Description

This learning activity provides a comprehensive overview of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) targeted towards nursing education. It explores the pathophysiology, major causes, and risk factors leading to AMI. The diagnostic process is reviewed, including common ECG changes, cardiac biomarkers, and additional testing modalities. Evidence-based treatment guidelines are summarized, focusing on the goals of timely reperfusion, pharmaceutical management, and secondary prevention. Details on the critical role of nurses across the continuum of care are provided, from rapid triage and coordinated diagnosis/treatment to preventative education and transition support.
