Course Description
This learning activity provides nurses with comprehensive knowledge about supporting breastfeeding in infants with cleft lip and/or cleft palate. It covers anatomical variations of clefts, benefits of breastfeeding, common feeding challenges, and evidence-based techniques for successful feeding. The activity includes detailed guidance on positioning techniques, specialized feeding equipment, and strategies for maintaining adequate nutrition. It emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary care and psychosocial support for families. Upon completion, nurses will be able to demonstrate appropriate breastfeeding techniques and implement evidence-based interventions to overcome feeding challenges in infants with clefts.
