Course Description
This learning activity examines the clinical, developmental, and psychosocial dynamics that unfold when a care recipient becomes a care provider - a transition that occurs across the lifespan, from adolescent young carers to sandwich-generation adults to aging spousal caregivers, and one that carries direct implications for patient safety and readmission risk. Drawing on current national caregiving data and evidence-based practice standards, the content equips nurses to identify caregivers at the point of care, apply validated assessment tools to gauge burden and readiness, verify caregiving competence through teach-back, and connect families to resources that sustain the caregiving role over time.
