This learning activity examines advanced pediatric pain assessment strategies for nurses, moving beyond traditional self-report scales to explore the ASPMN hierarchy of pain assessment, validated behavioral tools including the r-FLACC and NIPS, and multidimensional frameworks for children with complex needs. Nurses will explore the biopsychosocial model, family-centered assessment approaches, emerging digital technologies, and the legal, ethical, and equity considerations that shape best practice in pediatric pain management across care settings.
