Course Description
This learning activity examines the role of cultural humility and competence in mental health nursing, equipping registered nurses with the knowledge and tools to provide equitable, person-centered behavioral health care across diverse patient populations. Topics include how culture shapes the expression of distress, help-seeking behavior, and stigma; strategies for reducing implicit bias; culturally responsive assessment using tools such as the Cultural Formulation Interview; and the importance of addressing social determinants of health and interprofessional collaboration in closing mental health care gaps.
