Course Description
This learning activity examines infection prevention principles and practices specific to the ambulatory surgery center environment. Topics include Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions, surgical site infection prevention bundles, environmental cleaning and instrument reprocessing standards, and post-discharge surveillance. Emerging challenges such as antimicrobial resistance, nontuberculous mycobacteria, and endoscope reprocessing safety are also addressed. Upon completion, nurses will be better equipped to apply evidence-based infection control strategies across the ASC perioperative continuum.
