Course Description
This evidence-based learning activity explores mental wellness in long-term care, equipping nursing assistants to recognize, address, and support residents' psychological well-being. Through case examples and evidence-based strategies, learners will understand how to observe behavioral indicators of depression, anxiety, dementia-related distress, and social isolation, then communicate findings effectively using structured tools like SBAR. The activity covers non-pharmacological interventions including environmental design, social engagement, physical activity, and personalized care approaches that honor residents' individuality. Emphasis is placed on the LTC-NA's foundational observational role, multidisciplinary collaboration, and self-care practices that sustain caregiver wellness while improving resident outcomes.
