Course Description
This learning activity examines pediatric medication safety across the full medication-use continuum, from the developmental pharmacology that makes children uniquely vulnerable to dosing errors, through evidence-based strategies for accurate weight-based dosing and independent verification, to the technology, standardization, and caregiver education practices that close safety gaps at the bedside and at home. Drawing on current guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, and the 2025 KIDs List, the content equips nurses to recognize high-risk points in pediatric medication administration and apply practical safeguards that protect children who cannot advocate for their own safety.
