Course Description
This learning activity examines evidence-based approaches to pediatric mental health crisis intervention for nurses practicing across clinical settings. Drawing on current guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics, SAMHSA, and The Joint Commission, the content addresses the epidemiology of pediatric psychiatric emergencies, developmental considerations in crisis presentation, trauma-informed de-escalation techniques, safety planning, lethal means counseling, least-restrictive intervention principles, and the expanding continuum of community-based crisis resources available to support safe and appropriate patient disposition.
