Course Description
This learning activity provides nurses with a comprehensive review of pediatric procedural sedation in outpatient and ambulatory settings, covering the full care continuum from pre-sedation assessment through criteria-based discharge. Content includes the pediatric sedation spectrum, developmentally specific physiologic considerations, risk stratification, special population management, sedation pharmacology and reversal strategies, capnography-anchored monitoring, emergency rescue readiness, and post-sedation recovery. Aligned with current AAP/AAPD guidelines and Joint Commission standards, this activity equips outpatient nurses with the clinical knowledge to anticipate patient deterioration, communicate effectively across the care team, and ensure safe outcomes for pediatric patients and their families.
