Course Description
This learning activity examines resilience as a learnable, evidence-based skill set for nurses navigating clinical crises, rather than an innate personality trait. It distinguishes resilience from related but distinct concepts - moral injury and secondary traumatic stress - and presents practical strategies organized across three timeframes: in-the-moment regulation techniques (paced breathing, cognitive reframing, grounding), during-shift sustainment practices (microbreaks, nutrition, workload communication), and beyond-shift recovery habits (sleep, reflective practice, social connection). The content also addresses the organizational and leadership factors, such as peer support programs and transformational leadership, that make individual resilience sustainable over a nursing career.
