This learning activity prepares school nurses to support LGBTQ+ students who experience significant health disparities including elevated rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Participants will learn to create inclusive health office environments through affirming documentation, gender-inclusive communication, and appropriate confidentiality practices. The course covers essential clinical competencies including mental health screening, crisis intervention, inclusive sexual health education, and referrals for gender-affirming care. School nurses will gain practical tools to provide competent, compassionate care while advocating for LGBTQ+ student health and wellbeing.
